I’ll be very brief and on point as a general reply and maybe a starting point for other webcam performers whom stumbled upon similar situations.
As a webcam performer with main activity being online live streaming the personal life and overall Privacy becomes an issue when you get threats online bulling and even “leaked” personal info all over the cyberspace.
There are a few steps one could take so this doesn’t happen.
- Create a new email account and use it ONLY for webcam activities
- Avoid as much as possible (or simply don’t do it) sharing your real name or other identification information like street address, PO-Box, neighbors full name, relatives or close friends
- Online environment is never safe no matter how many security and privacy measures are used
- Don’t fall for the old trick with “give me your address to send you …” .Sometimes works ok but most of the times is a security risk for you
- Even good intentions can end-up bad, so always be careful whit who you share images, content, ideas, personal thoughts, links or whatever
- Phone number… most social platforms and mobile apps ask for your phone number, if it is not necessary, simply skip this step.
An individual with bad intentions might not know your email address but a search result for your mobile number might point in some directions you didn’t expect (Facebook for example, WhatsApp)
- If you have a personal account on social network(s), create another one for your branding/image/camming activity and DON’t link them together, don’t add your personal account as friend, you’ll be easier to be found
- When posting images from your mobile device, take a minute and disable location and any exif / meta you might have enabled. A visual aid and a location ripped off from your photo can end bad
That’s it for now.
Stay safe.
